The end of the year is nearby, time for some New Year’s resolutions!
Last year we provided some help to get started for busy Scrum Product Owners, this year we want to support busy Scrum Masters.
Here are 21 new year’s resolutions to get you started
- Stop being a representative for the teams you work with, let the team represent themselves.
- Slow down to speed up.
- Stay away from the content, focus on the how not the what.
- Help your teams learn something new.
- Sit back, relax and let them make mistakes.
- Ban email for a day for yourself and between team members (talk instead).
- Have that tough conversation you’ve been putting off.
- Remove something from your process.
- Create a team’s definition of “undone” (what comes after done for your increment?)
- Ask a sixth why.
- In meetings ask more questions and make fewer statements.
- Track improvement experiments in a celebration grid.
- Offer to facilitate another team’s retrospective.
- Admit when you’ve made a mistake.
- Start a Kudoz wall in your company.
- Be present, never type or look at your phone when somebody is talking to you.
- Make their day, let others smile at least once a day.
- Ask your teams how they want you to change/improve.
- Encourage cross-training while allowing people to do what they’re good at and enjoy.
- Play! Find ways to make work fun to do.
- Try collaborating with Management.
